Allegheny County Airport Authority Project Management Services

TC&M provided project management services to the Allegheny County Airport Authority in response to a mandate by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for checked baggage screening. Coordination and support of multiple agencies and airlines on an extremely compressed schedule was required.

Richard Potosnak provided project management services for the integration of in-line checked baggage screening for the Authority’s automated baggage system. This system is one of the largest automated systems in the United States. The system was modified to service low cost carriers in addition to the single hub carriers, transitioning the major hub operation to an origin and destination operation.

Midfield Terminal Program
FIRST MAJOR U.S. AIRPORT TO BE DESIGNED AS AN AIRLINE HUB FROM THE START

Additionally, Richard Potosnak managed the design and construction of the US Airways 50-gate hub operation into the $850-million Pittsburgh Midfield Terminal Program. He also managed the development of the baggage system and the full range of aircraft services for the concourses. This terminal was the first major U.S. airport to be designed as an airline hub from the beginning and integrated a retail complex into the terminal. It also included the integration of numerous systems for US Airways and the airport.
